Manchester City could have to pay up to £75million if they want to sign Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City this summer.

The Foxes want a basic fee of £60m for Mahrez, but then a further £15m could be paid in add-ons. This is £20m less in total than the £95m Leicester demanded for the midfielder during the January transfer window.

Pep Guardiola showed interest in Mahrez after Alexis Sanchez chose to join rivals Manchester United from Arsenal rather than head to the Etihad Stadium.
Although the Citizens never made an official offer, informal discussions were held between the chief executives of the two Premier League clubs.

However, when £95m was quoted for Mahrez City walked away from the deal, which resulted in the Algeria international going on strike and being fined two weeks wages – as reported by the Telegraph at the time.
The 27-year-old did return to the first team and finished the season with an impressive 12 goals and ten assists in the English top flight.
