Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa reportedly wants to leave the club.

According to The Sun, Leicester City striker Leonardo Ulloa is ‘desperate’ to leave the club in January, with Sunderland leading the race for his signature.

Ulloa, 30, started just seven league games last season, coming on as a substitute 22 times as he helped Leicester’s push for the Premier League title with six goals.

However, the Foxes chose to splash out for two strikers over the summer in Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani, and with Jamie Vardy staying at the club, Ulloa is now fifth-choice striker under Claudio Ranieri, with Shinji Okazaki also ahead of him.

Ulloa hit 11 goals in his first Premier League season back in the 2014/15 campaign, and the Argentinian deserves to be playing first-team football elsewhere having failed to start a game in the Premier League or Champions League this season.

Now, with the January transfer window drawing ever closer, Ulloa is being linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium – and The Sun claim that Ulloa is ‘desperate’ to leave Leicester in search of more playing time.

It’s claimed that, with 18 months left on his contract, Ulloa wants a decision made on his future in January, and it’s claimed that clubs are interested in signing him; most notably, Sunderland.

The Black Cats are desperate for firepower given that Jermain Defoe, Victor Anichebe and Patrick van Aanholt are the only Sunderland players to have scored in the Premier League this season.

The report states that Sunderland were keen during the summer transfer window, and now lead the race to snap him up January too as the former Brighton striker looks set to move on in 2017.
