Leicester City youngster Johnly Yfeko is on trial at Premier League rivals Southampton as the Saints look to reinforce their left-back options, as reported by Hampshire Live.
With Ryan Bertrand in talks over a deal that would see him swap St Mary’s for the King Power Stadium, could another left-sided defender be going in the opposite direction (Sky)?
Then again, Yfeko is hardly a readymade replacement for an England international with around 200 Premier League appearances on his CV.
The Leicester starlet is still a youngster, completely unproven in senior football.
While Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has a fine track record when it comes to giving youth a chance – handing opportunities to Nathan Tella, Will Smallbone, Michael Obafemi and more – Yfeko is likely to be viewed as ‘one for the future’ rather than an immediate addition to the Saints first-team.
Hampshire Live reports that Yfeko, after arriving for a trial on the South Coast, featured in a recent youth-team clash with Reading.

He is not the only promising, up-and-coming talent on Southampton’s radar either.
Chelsea are also understood to be interested.
