Premier League outfit Leicester City plan to get Adrien Silva’s £80,000-a-week salary off their books by cancelling his contract a year early, according to FootMercato.

At £22 million, Silva is sandwiched between the likes of Islam Slimani, Ahmed Musa and Ayoze Perez in the value-for-money stakes.
And, just to rub salt into the wounds, reports now suggest the club’s fifth most expensive addition of all time could leave the King Power for nothing after three years and a grand total of ten Premier League starts.
FootMercato claims Silva isn’t in Brendan Rodgers’ plans for the upcoming season and Leicester have agreed to let him leave on a free.
Money-spinning moves to Russia and Qatar are on the table but, if the 31-year-old wants to force his way back into the Portugal squad ahead of the European Championships, joining a Sampdoria side coached by Claudio Ranieri may be his best bet.
Silva, a former Sporting Lisbon captain, has played 26 times for his country but has been out of Fernando Santo’s plans since 2018.
Spotrac claims James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and Kasper Schmeichel are the only Leicester players who earn more than his £80,000 a week.
