Leicester City are reportedly keen on signing the Porto right-back.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Leicester have been told that they will have to fork out £30 million if they want to sign Porto ace Ricardo Pereira this summer.
Claude Puel is reportedly keen on providing more competition for Danny Simpson in the right-back department at the King Power Stadium, and the Frenchman is thought to be a big fan of the Porto defender.
The 24-year-old joined the Portuguese giants in the summer of 2013, but hasn’t always been a regular feature at the Estádio do Dragão, spending two separate loan spells away from the club with Nice in Ligue 1.
Pereira has firmly established himself as a first-team regular for Porto this season, however, and has really impressed – so much so that his club will demand £30 million for his services from any interested parties – notably Leicester, according to the Daily Mail.
Whilst the Portuguese ace would be a useful addition to the Foxes squad, it is debatable whether he is worth £30 million, even in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market.
He was badly exposed when facing the ferocity of Liverpool’s high intensity press in the Champions League earlier this season, and that should serve as a warning to Leicester that he is perhaps not cut out for the robust nature of the Premier League.
