Leicester City want to sign Luis Suarez after the veteran striker was reportedly told that he has no future at La Liga giants Barcelona, according to Marca.

Ronald Koeman’s dream has quickly turned into a nightmare.

Just last week, this most straight-talking of Dutchmen finally shook hands with the club he has coveted ever since hanging up his boots two decades ago.

But while Koeman was identified as the man to rebuild a crumbling dynasty, he might have already tainted his reputation at the Camp Nou with two of the top three goal-scorers in Barcelona’s history set to ride off into the sunset – Luis Suarez and Leo Messi.

Marca claims that the former Everton and Southampton boss phoned Suarez earlier this week and made it clear that the 33-year-old has no future in Catalonia.

The Camp Nou legend may be a little past his peak but, with 21 goals in just 36 games last season, there are few better finishers in world football today than a four-time La Liga champion who has hit the target almost 200 times across six years.

Marca claims that a return to Ajax is on the cards, while Juventus is also a potential destination. Although there is one name that simply leaps off the page – Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City.

“Luis Suarez is one of the most beautiful men you could come across,” Rodgers said in 2016 of a man who very nearly fired his Liverpool side to Premier League glory.

“I had the pleasure of working with him for two years and he was incredible and as a footballer, he is the best in the world. Like all world class players, they always find space.

“He is the best striker in the world at this moment in time. I don’t think there is any question in that.”

Suarez might never have a better chance to return to English shores, not to mention reuniting with a coach whose admiration and adulation is very much mutual.

TMW reports that Barcelona are willing to sell for around £25 million – a huge sum for a 33-year-old; albeit a ‘world-class’ one.
