According to The Mirror, Leicester City will demand Morgan Schneiderlin in any bid from Manchester United to sign Danny Drinkwater.

The Foxes were hammered 4-1 by United on Saturday afternoon, with Claudio Ranieri’s men struggling to deal with Jose Mourinho’s men in the first half at Old Trafford.

Mourinho had dropped Marouane Fellaini in favour of Ander Herrera, with the Spaniard dictating the pace of the game from the heart of midfield.

Regardless, United continue to be linked with more midfielders – and having brought Paul Pogba back to the club from Juventus in a world-record deal over the summer, Mourinho may move to re-sign another former Red Devils midfield.

The Mirror report that United are keen to sign Danny Drinkwater from champions Leicester, after he played a key role during the Foxes’ historic run to the Premier League title last season.

Manchester-born Drinkwater joined United at the age of just nine, and he came up through the ranks with the club before leaving for Leicester in January 2012 having failed to make even one appearance for the club.

Intriguingly though, Drinkwater only signed a new deal at the King Power Stadium last month, and it’s claimed that Leicester would demand Morgan Schneiderlin in a part-exchange deal for Drinkwater.

The Frenchman, who joined United from Southampton in 2015, has been a bit-part player under Mourinho and wasn’t even in the 18-man matchday squad to take on Leicester, with his future looking increasingly bleak.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri would reportedly demand Schneiderlin in any deal, handing the Foxes an immediate replacement – but whether United firm up their interest in re-signing Drinkwater in January remains to be seen.
