According to The Mirror, Leicester City could lose defender Jonny Evans to former club Manchester United with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen.

It’s claimed that United are keeping tabs on Evans’ contract situation, given that he is out of contract at the end of the season.

United appear to be eyeing up a move to sign Evans ‘on the cheap’, and are plotting a move if Leicester can’t agree a new deal with him, more than five years since selling him.

Solskjaer allegedly wants to bring in a reliable centre back to bolster his back four, and Evans is seen as a cost-effective option.

One thing that should be hugely appealing to United is that Evans already has a great understanding with Harry Maguire, having featured alongside him at Leicester.

Reuniting the pair could help solidify United’s back line, and without breaking the bank given Evans’ contract situation at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester do have a star in the making in Wesley Fofana, whilst Caglar Soyuncu will be coming back soon too, meaning they have a solid centre back pairing in mind even if Evans goes.

Still, losing his experience would be a blow, especially on the cheap, and the Foxes will be desperate to give the 32-year-old a new deal with just weeks to go until the transfer window opens.
