Leicester City are set to land Dinamo Zagreb defender Filip Benkovic.

According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Leicester City are set to sign Dinamo Zagreb centre back Filip Benkovic in a £13million deal before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The Foxes have enjoyed a productive summer, bringing in Danny Ward, Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, James Maddison and now Rachid Ghezzal, though the exit of Riyad Mahrez means there is money available for more additions.
With Robert Huth gone, Wes Morgan ageing and Aleksandar Dragovic returned to Bayer Leverkusen, another centre back is on Claude Puel’s wish list, after a move for Rubin Kazan’s Solomon Kvirkvelia failed.
Now, Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Leicester are set to snap up a new defender ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, with Dinamo Zagreb’s Filip Benkovic on the verge of a £13million move.
Benkovic, 21, has impressed in Croatia, and now looks set to make a move to the King Power Stadium, with the fee agreed with Dinamo as a move looks to be advancing quickly.
The giant 6ft 4in centre back is yet to earn a cap for Croatia, but looks to be a real talent for the future, and will hope to have more success at Leicester than former Dinamo ace Andrej Kramaric.

Signing another centre back may cause concern about the future of Harry Maguire amid Manchester United’s pursuit of the defender, but Foxes fans should be at ease.
Puel really needs to bring in another centre back, especially given Evans’ injury history, and Benkovic should be viewed as depth at the back rather than a potential replacement for Maguire.
