According to talkSPORT, Leicester duo Hamza Choudhury and Demarai Gray could leave the King Power Stadium before the transfer deadline.

The report states that the pair have been pushed down the pecking order, with Nampalys Mendy preferred by Brendan Rodgers while Wilfred Ndidi deputises in defence.

In Gray’s case, he hasn’t featured in either of the Foxes’ two Premier League matchday squads so far this season. Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Perez have been preferred to the ex-Birmingham winger.

TalkSPORT state that Gray’s exit is likely, whereas the 22-year-old Choudhury is keen on a permanent move away from Leicester.

That latter piece of information should be of interest to Southampton.

According to a report from The Telegraph earlier this month, the Saints have the afro-haired midfielder in their sights as a potential replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Should Rodgers sanction these two exits, it could be a foolish move.

After all, Leicester are in the Europa League this season, which means they’ll have to play a lot more fixtures than usual.

As a result, depth is needed, something that Choudhury and Gray can provide.

Of course, if they want to leave, that is their choice.

However, if Leicester push them out, they may regret it if injuries creep into the squad.
