Leicester City are prepared to pay £22 million for Robin Gosens but, according to Tuttomercatoweb, the Atalanta star will wait and see if the Foxes secure Champions League football before making his decision.
The Germany international has a good memory, it seems.
Since September 2019, Leicester have only been absent from the Premier League’s top four for one, single day. It just so happens that was the final day of last season, when Manchester United’s 2-0 win at the King Power knocked Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes down into fifth place.
Fortunately, there appears to be little chance of history repeating itself.
Leicester look a more confident, assured team this time around and, in Kelechi Iheanacho, they have the division’s form player in their ranks. With five games to go, the Midland giants are seven points clear of fifth-placed West Ham.
So, with a seat at Europe’s top table within their grasp, Leicester are well placed to complete a deal for one of the game’s most coveted full-backs.
According to TMW, Leicester are stepping up their pursuit of the ex-Vitesse and Heerenveen man. Talks are being prepared while the 2016 Champions of England are ready to pay an initial £22 million, plus bonuses.

Gosens will wait to see if Leicester do indeed secure their top-four place, however, before making his decision.
With Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Juventus also interested, the five-capped wide man is not short of alternative offers.
In 38 games, Gosens has produced 18 goals and assists this season; a remarkable tally which makes the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Achraf Hakimi look distinctly average.
Interestingly, Gosens could be competing with former Atalanta teammate Timothy Castagne for a place in Rodgers’ XI soon enough.
