Leicester City are planning a £30 million move for David Brooks as they look to beat Manchester United to the Bournemouth star, according to the Express.

While reports linking the Welsh wizard with a move to Old Trafford haven’t gone down too well with the Twitterati, United fans should perhaps see Brooks as less of a Jadon Sancho alternative and more as a bargain version of Jack Grealish.

The former Sheffield United youngster shares more than a few similarities with the Aston Villa skipper after all – slaloming through challenges like Paul Gascoigne on ice skates before bending an inch-perfect shot into the top corner.

Brooks might have missed pretty much all of last season through injury but, during that exceptional 2018/19 campaign, he produced seven goals and five assists – a tally pretty much identical to Grealish’s from in 2019/20.

Did we mention he would cost about half the fee required to sign Villa’s talisman?

While Manchester United have stumbled out of the starting blocks this summer, Leicester are now looking to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer choking on their dust.

Leicester are planning a £30 million move themselves for a skilful, scheming 23-year-old who looks about as typical a Brendan Rodgers player as you can possibly imagine.

The Express adds that Rodgers wants to freshen up a Foxes side who slipped out of the Champions League places at the eleventh hour. Leicester looked short of creativity and cutting edge during James Maddison’s injury enforced absence but Brooks looks the ideal understudy.

His defence splitting ability will certainly have Jamie Vardy licking his lips in anticipation.

“He’s a talent. He’s one of the most exciting players I’ve seen for a long time,” Premier League legend and Wales boss Ryan Giggs told Clwbpeldroed in February.

“He was player of the year for us last year and he’s just a player who can make a difference.”
