Roma winger Cengiz Under is set to receive a substantial pay rise if he joins Leicester City with a £70,000-a-week contract on the table, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Brendan Rodgers has a superb track record when it comes to setting talented youngsters on the path to stardom, with Philippe Coutinho, Raheem Sterling, Odsonne Edouard, Moussa Dembele and others going from strength to strength under the former Liverpool and Celtic boss.
Under’s situation is a little different, however.
The 23-year-old looked one of the most exciting young forwards in Europe during a fabulous breakthrough season at the Stadio Olimpico in 2017/18. However, those scintillating displays have been few and far between since Eusebio di Francesco was fired as Giallorossi coach in March 2019.
Current incumbent Paulo Fonseca doesn’t appear to be a big fan of the Turkey international – handing him just ten Serie A starts last term.

Leicester will hope Rodgers can put Under back on track. The Foxes will reduce the risk by signing the wideman on an initial loan deal with an option to buy for about £23 million.
The report adds that Under will be handed a £70,000-a-week wage at the King Power – a huge increase on the £45,000-a-week pay packet he gets at Roma.
The presence of Caglar Soyuncu, Under’s Turkish international teammate, should also help the youngster settle into life in England.
