According to Roma Giallorossa in Italy, Leicester are now pushing to bring Newcastle target Houssem Aouar to the Premier League.

Leicester rival Newcastle for Aouar

Well, it seems as if the France international’s time at Lyon is coming to an end, with Brendan Rodgers and Eddie Howe sniffing around.

Aouar sees his contract at Lyon expire in July, so January represents the French side’s final chance to recoup some money for their No.8 – unless they can get him to sign a contract extension, of course.

However, that seems unlikely.

Roma Giallorossa believe Leicester are very keen to sign Aouar – who is also a target for José Mourinho in Rome – but the midfielder would prefer a move to the Premier League.

Despite that, Roma are in talks with the 24-year-old over a deal, although his future will become a lot clearer after the World Cup, according to the Italian news outlet.

It comes after Calcio Mercato Web revealed that Newcastle are keen to strike a deal with Lyon.

Aouar actually came very close to a Premier League move before the September 1st deadline, as both Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest made attempts to sign him.

That was according to L’Equipe, although the Premier League duo simply ran out of time.

Aouar would shine for Leicester or Newcastle

In our view, every top-flight side with an ounce of ambition should be looking at signing Aouar in January, given the circumstances of his situation.

The Frenchman represents an exciting market opportunity, with Lyon only said to be demanding £13m for a January sale.

Given the fact Aouar boasts 15 Champions League appearances to his name – in which he has registered ten goal involvements – as well as international recognition for France, it is most certainly a deal worth doing.

Aouar is also just 24 years of age, so he is yet to hit his peak.

Keep an eye on this saga, as somebody could soon secure themselves a bargain.
