According to The Athletic, Leicester City have joined Leeds United in the race to sign Nottingham Forest talent Brennan Johnson.
Forest don’t want to sell key players this summer, but Johnson is named alongside homegrown teammates Joe Worrall and Alex Mighten as being potential exits.
Forest allegedly let winger Sammy Ameobi leave this summer because of their high hopes for Johnson, and they will hope to fend off this interest in him.
How did Johnson perform last season?
Johnson, 20, spent last season on loan at Lincoln City in League One, firing a superb 11 goals and five assists in 43 outings.
The Welsh wide man was outstanding as the Imps made the League One playoffs, though lost in the final to Blackpool.
Johnson now returns to Forest and could be a first-teamer under Chris Hughton – unless he’s playing in the Premier League.
Forest think very highly of Johnson, with academy boss Gary Brazil suggesting that he he has the potential to be ‘elite’.

Leicester join Leeds in race for Johnson
It’s now claimed that Forest’s East Midlands rivals Leicester are looking to pull off a raid for Johnson, though Forest would surely loathe to sell him to their neighbours.
Leeds are believed to be keen on Johnson too, as are newly-promoted Brentford. Even Championship side Barnsley have lofty ambitions of signing the wide man.
Leeds will be a major threat to Leicester’s hopes of a deal, and Forest may prefer to sell to the Whites rather than be seen to be selling one of their prized assets to the Foxes.
