According to a report from Foot Mercato, Leicester City are interested in signing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo this summer.
The 21-year-old Frenchman only joined the Bees last year but he has been a star. Mbeumo scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in the Championship last season which almost pushed Brentford to the Premier League.
A return as good as that never goes unnoticed and Mbeumo could potentially head to the King Power Stadium to play for Leicester in the Premier League next season.
Mbeumo could become the new Riyad Mahrez
The report claims that the Foxes are looking for a fast, powerful and creative attacker who is strong in one-on-one situations. Mbeumo checks all the boxes, and Leicester might have finally found the player who can fill in the void that Riyad Mahrez created when he left.
The Algerian was arguably the Foxes’ best player during his time with the club. He played a massive part in helping Leicester win the Premier League title but, since his departure to Manchester City, the right wing at the King Power has looked out of sorts.
Mbeumo has all the qualities to succeed in the Premier League just like Mahrez did. The Frenchman, like the City star, is a tricky winger with a wand of a left foot that he used to fantastic effect last season.

He showed last term that he can get past defenders with considerable ease and a return such as his is further proof that he can thrive with better players around him.
The report hasn’t mentioned how much Brentford will demand for Mbeumo. With four years left on his contract, he will not be cheap, however Leicester have already shown that they aren’t afraid of spending the big bucks.
With a Europa League adventure coming up for Leicester, reinforcements are an absolute necessity. Mbeumo, if they can lure him in, could finally replace Mahrez and he can help the Foxes become even better next season.
