Leicester City are reportedly intent on keeping goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel
According to The Mirror, Leicester City have told goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel that he won’t be leaving the club this summer amid interest from Liverpool.
The Foxes may have endured an up-and-down season to date, but goalkeeper Schmeichel has remained one of their most consistent performers.
A key part of Leicester’s title-winning side from last season, Schmeichel has again impressed this season, keeping the Foxes in games even in their darkest moments under Claudio Ranieri.
Now under Craig Shakespeare, Schmeichel has kept three clean sheets in his last four games for Leicester, and in the other game, he pulled off save after save to keep West Ham from snatching a late equaliser in a 3-2 win for Leicester.
Schmeichel’s displays this season appear to have attracted interest from Premier League rivals Liverpool, but The Mirror report that the Danish international has been told that he isn’t going anywhere this summer.
It’s stated that, with Schmeichel still having four years left on his £100,000-a-week contract, which has no release clause included, the former Manchester City goalkeeper has been told that he is staying at the King Power Stadium this summer.

That stance will come as a blow to Liverpool, whose goalkeeping problems have been well-documented this season. Summer signing Loris Karius has failed to impress in limited playing time, whilst Simon Mignolet still isn’t considered as a long-term solution for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Despite being 30, Schmeichel could have fit the bill for Liverpool, but with Leicester refusing to sell, it would seemingly take an astronomical bid for the Foxes to even consider a deal at the end of the season.
