According to SportItalia’s Alfredo Pedulla, Leicester City have now joined the race to sign Udinese playmaker Rodrigo De Paul.

It’s claimed that the Foxes have made a ‘strong’ push for De Paul in the ‘last few hours’, as Brendan Rodgers seeks a new creative force.

The report adds that Leicester are in talks to sell Adrien Silva to Sampdoria, with one midfielder potentially leaving to Italy to make way for an incoming from Serie A.

Udinese allegedly want €40million (£36million) for De Paul, meaning Leicester will have to come up with big money for the Argentinian.

This is the latest blow for Leeds United, as they have been attempting to bring De Paul to Elland Road over the last week.

The Telegraph reported last Sunday that Leeds were looking to sign De Paul, with Gianluca Di Marzio backing up those claims before Fabrizio Romano suggested that talks were ongoing and it would cost around €35million (£31million) to get a deal done.

It seems that Udinese are now upping their asking price as a result of the increased interest in De Paul, believing they can score a big pay day.

De Paul, 26, hit seven goals and six assists for Udinese last season, playing predominantly as a central midfielder, whilst his 62 successful dribbles and 77 key passes were both in the top 12 in Serie A last term.

The Argentinian would bring even more guile to the Leicester midfield alongside James Maddison, but they will face a real battle with Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa.
