Leicester City are reportedly keen to bolster their midfield options and will look to bring Sevilla’s Vicente Iborra to the King Power Stadium, trumping West Ham United in the process, as reported by the Independent.

The 29-year-old featured against the Foxes in their Champions League round of 16 ties and impressed the club’s recruitment, with Leicester of the opinion that the former Levante man would be a perfect fit for the Premier League due to both his powerful style of play in a number of positions and his imposing 6ft 3 frame.

Iborra – who scored eight goals in 41 appearances for Sevilla last season, while also racking up two assists – is expected to command a £12m fee and would almost double his wages if he signs for the Foxes, as reported by the same Independent article, and the midfielder is open to a switch to the Midlands.

Leicester’s speed in the Iborra chase has left West Ham eating their dust, with Slavan Bilic’s side keeping tabs on the 29-year-old, but as of yet, the Hammers haven’t followed it up with solid interest – and Leicester could get the deal over the line this week.

If they do, it would be the second bit of transfer business the Foxes have completed, having already signed Hull City defender Harry Maguire, with Craig Shakespeare determined to turn Leicester into a top half side in the Premier League.

The defending champions finished 12th as their title defence turned into an utter shambles, but Leicester still managed to reach the quarter-final stage of the Champions League, and only finished two points behind eighth placed Southampton.
