According to the Daily Mail, Leicester City have joined the race to sign Schalke defender Ozan Kabak this summer.

It’s claimed that Kabak is one of Leicester’s centre back targets, with the Foxes fearing losing Jonny Evans to a Premier League rival.

Kabak knows Caglar Soyuncu from Turkey international duty, and Brendan Rodgers could now move to pair them up on the domestic stage.

Who is Ozan Kabak?

Kabak, 20, emerged through the Galatasaray youth ranks, and made just 18 first-team performances before being spotted by Schalke.

The centre back spent just a matter of months at Stuttgart, with Schalke signing him after only 17 games for Stuttgart, though he did score three goals.

Quick, strong, capable on the ball and possessing an impressive reading of the game for his age, Kabak looks set for a huge future and could land a fourth club before the age of 21.

Liverpool or Leicester?

Leicester aren’t alone in the race for Kabak, as Sport Bild reported in July that Liverpool also fancy signing him.

This new rumours makes much more sense though, as Kabak would be challenging Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Liverpool splashing big money on a third or fourth-choice centre back doesn’t seem like something the Reds would do, whereas he would have more first-team opportunities at Leicester – especially if Evans moves on.
