It has been reported that Southampton have told the former Queens Park Rangers forward that he can leave this month.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are also claimed to be interested in the 29-year-old, who is out of contact at the Saints in the summer of 2019.

The Telegraph has also reported that Austin will leave Southampton in January, with Wolves, Aston Villa and Galatasaray all interested in the Englishman.

Struggles at Southampton

Austin has been on the books of Southampton since January 2016 when he joined from QPR for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4 million.

The forward has had injury concerns during his time at the Saints, and even when he has been fully fit, the 29-year-old has struggled to play regularly.

Austin is a very good forward who has been a success in the Championship and in the Premier League, and he will be a smart signing for the likes of Leicester, Wolves and Villa.
