Former Everton and Wigan boss Martinez could return to the Premier League to replace Claude Puel at Leicester City.
Leicester City are interested in bringing Roberto Martinez back to the Premier League to replace Claude Puel, according to Jim White on talkSPORT (25 February, 10.45am).
The Foxes brought an arguably overdue end to Puel’s King Power reign in the aftermath of Saturday’s 4-1 home defeat against Crystal Palace, the Frenchman departing having never really won over the supporters with his sluggish, possession based style.
But who will replace the former Southampton boss? The Mirror (25 February, page 47) reports that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers and former Huddersfield Town coach David Wagner are the top targets as things stand.
Rafa Benitez is also under consideration but it is unlikely that he would walk away from Newcastle in the middle of the season.
But according to Jim White on talkSPORT, there is another name in the frame – Roberto Martinez.
A former Wigan and Everton boss, Martinez hasn’t managed in England since being sacked by the Goodison Park club three years ago. He is currently in charge of the Belgian national team and restored his reputation as one of Europe’s most promising coaches at the 2018 World Cup, leading his side to the semi-finals.
One things for sure; Martinez would bring the exciting attacking football the Leicester fans are crying out for.
