Leeds United look set to complete the signing of a talented young Irishman in the weeks to come, with Paudie O’Connor on the verge of joining from Limerick. The player himself confirmed the move yesterday on his twitter account.

It appears Leeds were not the only team interested in his signature.

According to The Irish Sun he was also being tracked by Premier League side Crystal Palace and last season’s champions Leicester City.

The report claims that O’Connor had trained with Leicester and Palace as well as Leeds in the past few months.

However it is now clear that Leeds have won the race for his signature – with Limerick’s Irish rivals Shamrock Rovers also said to have missed out on his signature.

O’Connor, helped his former club to the First Division title in Ireland last season and will have high hopes of being a hit at Leeds United.

Fans at Leeds may have to wait a while to see the 19-year-old in action, but will hope he can go on to become a star in the first-team at Elland Road.
