Leicester City are stepping up their pursuit of Tommaso Pobega, with Tuttomercatoweb suggesting that the Foxes are ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt in the race for the AC Milan midfielder.
You would think, with Manuel Locatelli going from strength to strength at Sassuolo, that the Rossoneri would be wary of letting history repeat itself.
If they could turn back the clock to 2019, Milan would surely have second thoughts about selling Locatelli, given that the £30 million-rated Italy international is now the top target for Pep Guardiola’s star-studded Manchester City side (Mail).
Of course, there is no guarantee that Pobega could emulate Locatelli’s impact away from the San Siro.
But the classy 21-year-old certainly has no shortage of talent and, if Milan cannot find a place for him in Stefano Pioli’s engine room, there are certainly plenty of clubs who will happily offer him a clean slate.
TMW reports that Leicester, who have been linked with Pobega for a few months now, are pushing for his arrival.

The Foxes, like fellow suitors Eintracht Frankfurt, are well placed to qualify for the Champions League after a fine 2020/21 campaign. TMW add that, as it stands, Leicester are in pole position for Pobega’s signature, their interest understood to be ‘serious’.
A deep-lying midfielder once labelled ‘the new Nemanja Matic’, Pobega may be an upgrade on the likes of Hamza Choudhury and Nampalys Mendy at the King Power.
Calciomercato believe that Milan want around £10 million for the Italy U21 ace, who has impressed on loan at Serie A rivals Spezia this term.
