Adrien Silva and Etienne Capoue have emerged as transfer targets for Valencia with their futures at Leicester City and Watford uncertain, according to Super Deporte.

News of Valencia’s interest will be music to the ears of everyone at the King Power, including a £22 million Portugal international who has only started eight Premier League games in three years with the Foxes.

FootMercato claimed last week that Leicester could terminate the final year of Silva’s £80,000-a-week deal in order to ease his departure.

With Valencia once again in the midst of yet another financial catastrophe, the chance to sign an experienced, proven Portuguese international without spending a penny in transfer fees has not gone unnoticed.

Especially as Javi Gracia, the newly-appointed head coach, is desperate to add some midfield reinforcements before the October transfer deadline.

Super Deporte adds that there is another, more familiar, face on Gracia’s hitlist – his former Watford ace Capoue.

At 32, and with a £40,000-a-week contract, it seems unlikely that the Frenchman will be playing Championship football at Vicarage Road. Watford already have a stocked midfield, with James Garner now arriving on loan from Manchester United too.

The report adds that Capoue would love to reunite with a coach under whom he played arguably his best football on English shores.

“For us, Capoue is a very important player. Not only because he is doing a good job, I think he is very important because he has a very good attitude,” Gracia told the Hertfordshire Mercury in 2018.
