According to L’Equipe (print version via GFFN), Leicester and Crystal Palace are in talks with Marseille over the signing of Florian Thauvin.

The French news outlet claim that AC Milan and Sevilla are also interested in the 10-cap France international, who has Premier League experience.

Thauvin signed for Newcastle in 2015, where he made 13 Premier League appearances before joining Marseille in 2016.

L’Equipe say that Leicester and Crystal Palace are in talks to sign the 28-year-old, as they attempt to land him for nothing.

Thauvin’s contract expires in June, and while he is considering staying in France, Marseille might not be able to afford him.

The forward wants an increase on his €420,000-a-month wages (£89,278-a-week) which Marseille might struggle to provide, according to L’Equipe.

Thauvin could also land a big signing-on bonus if he joins another club as a free agent, something that Marseille again wouldn’t be able to compete with financially.

If Brendan Rodgers or Roy Hodgson can land the Frenchman, they would be getting an excellent attacker.

In 37 appearances this season, Thauvin has scored eight goals while also recording nine assists.

Admittedly, there may be lingering concerns from his first stint in England.

However, Thauvin was at Newcastle while Steve McClaren was in charge.

Few players in black and white did well that season, as the Magpies were relegated.

Thauvin has since matured, and could be a very good signing for the Foxes or the Eagles, especially on a free transfer.
