The Brentford centre-back is reportedly wanted by Leicester City and Bournemouth.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Leicester and Bournemouth have both had bids rejected for Brentford’s Chris Mepham, as they continue to monitor the defender with just five days remaining until the transfer window slams shut.
The British newspaper claims that the Foxes offered £10 million for the 20-year-old centre-back, whilst the Cherries submitted a £12 million bid.
Mepham has impressed for Brentford since being given his opportunity in the first-team last season, making 24 appearances in all competitions.
Both Leicester and Bournemouth will undoubtedly be looking to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of the start of the new Premier League season next week.
And Mepham could be just the man for the job.
The Daily Mail claims that two Premier League clubs have made offers for the Brentford ace, both of which were subsequently rejected by the Bees, and it is unclear as to how much will be needed to prise him away from Griffin Park.
Both Leicester and Bournemouth obviously have the financial firepower to tempt the west London outfit into selling, but quite how much they are willing to spend on Mepham remains to be seen.
