According to Voetbal, Marcelo Bielsa is a candidate to replace Erik ten Hag at Ajax, after the 52-year-old agreed to join Manchester United.
What’s the story?
Well, after being sacked by Leeds in February, Bielsa – who Sean Dyche called a “legend” after his exit – could soon find himself in a new role.
Voetbal mention him as a candidate to replace Ten Hag, who has now agreed to replace Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford (The Athletic).
The Argentine has never managed in the Netherlands, so it would be an interesting opportunity for Bielsa to move to Amsterdam.
With all due respect, it would also be a considerable step up from Leeds, as Ajax regularly compete in the Champions League, and are among Europe’s footballing elite.
One potential stumbling block, however, could be a language barrier.
Voetbal claim that Bielsa has no intention of learning Dutch, so if Ajax do plan to hire him, they’ll have to hire a translator as well.

In our view, if he can overcome the language barrier, Bielsa would shine at the Amsterdam Arena.
Ajax traditionally play beautiful, stylish football, a methodology which aligns with the South American’s own tactics.
Of course, there are often complaints about Bielsa overworking his players, but we still believe the Argentine and Ajax would go hand-in-hand.
Having said that, Bielsa is a funny man, hence his nickname ‘El Loco’ – with his track record, it wouldn’t even be a surprise if he took the job, then shortly resigned, like he did at Lazio in 2016.
