Leeds United midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi could be on his way back to Elland Road this summer, based on the latest reports concerning his future.
According to a report from German outlet Kicker, Yosuke Ideguchi is currently looking set to return to Leeds this summer with Greuther Furth feeling that the asking price for a permanent deal is too much as things stand.
Ideguchi is back playing for the German second division side after missing most of the season due to injury. Before being sidelined, there were signs from the Japanese midfielder that suggested that he was ready to get his career back on track with his Leeds spell being written off before it had barely begun.
But it appears that he could now be set to return to Elland Road this summer. Kicker reports that the two clubs had agreed a future fee for the 22-year-old when he left last year, but Greuther Furth now feel that the price-tag is too much.
The report hints that their stance could change if a compromise can be made.
It seems unlikely that Leeds will have had a change of heart about Ideguchi after his extremely difficult season. So perhaps, the Whites will be open to lowering their demands to get him off the books.
But with so many issues to address over the coming weeks following their play-off semi-final defeat – most notably, what the future holds for Marcelo Bielsa – perhaps it would be foolish to completely write off the idea of Ideguchi getting another chance to impress at some stage in pre-season.
It does seem incredibly unlikely, especially if Bielsa stays for another year. But if Leeds cannot agree a deal with Greuther Furth and a new head coach is needed over the coming months, perhaps there may be an opportunity for Ideguchi.
