Leeds United are yet to begin talks with Kalvin Phillips over a new contract, with the England international attracting interest from Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
90min claim that the Yorkshire club have not opened discussions with the 26-year-old midfielder about signing a new deal. Phillips was subject to a £55m bid from West Ham in January as per the Daily Star, though Leeds rejected the offer with the player eager to remain at Elland Road.
Phillips’ current deal expires in 2024, though with the homegrown talent signing his latest contract when Leeds were in the Championship, the Premier League star is one of the lowest-paid players in the current Whites squad.
Whilst the midfielder is open to signing a new contract with Leeds, the lack of action over discussions has alerted some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League, with 90min listing that Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, PIF-backed Newcastle and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are keen.
Phillips was named England’s Player of the Year in 2021 after playing a starring role for the Three Lions at Euro 2020, and whilst Leeds’ standing in the Premier League this season is concerning, there’s no denying that the midfielder is a prized target for many rival clubs.
Indeed, with Leeds stalling on discussing a new contract with Phillips, English clubs could smell a golden opportunity to sign the England international, who could offer the midfielder much higher wages than what the Whites can put on the table.
Leeds must wrap up Phillips contract before it’s too late

Phillips has established himself as a star for England and one of the Premier League’s most consistent midfielders, yet with Leeds stalling over a new contract, the decision will come back to hurt the Yorkshire side if they continue to procrastinate.
With some major clubs reportedly eyeing Phillips in Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle, Leeds must get into gear now to sign the midfielder down to a new contract before either of these Premier League clubs smell an opportunity to sign the England international.
