Leeds United will have signed the young French goalkeeper well before the 5pm deadline, according to a report.
The Yorkshire Evening Post has claimed that Leeds United will finalise a loan deal for French goalkeeper Illan Meslier by noon tomorrow.
The Whites are in the market for a new goalkeeper after losing Bailey Peacock-Farrell to Burnley in recent days.
That departure leaves Kiko Casilla as Leeds’ only tried-and-tested option but, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post, United will have wrapped up a season-long loan for the Lorient stopper tomorrow.
Meslier is only 19 but he managed 28 appearances for the Ligue 2 side last season.
He isn’t the most exciting player that Leeds are linked to in the final stages of the transfer window, but he’s an important one nonetheless.
Casilla needs competition and Meslier – who stands at 6’6 – is clearly considered to be a better prospect than Under-23 duo Kamil Miazek or Will Huffer.
Plus, the upside of completing that one done with five hours before the deadline is that it could allow Victor Orta to focus on getting the likes of Eddie Nketiah and/or Ryan Kent over the line, if one or both go to the wire.
