According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United were interested in signing Silkeborg defender Frederik Alves Ibsen – but he’s off to West Ham United.
It’s claimed that the Whites were looking to sign Alves, viewing him as a real talent for the future having impressed over in Denmark.
Rostov were keen to take him to Russia too, but West Ham are on the verge of signing him for around £1.2million, with a deal close.
The 20-year-old has allegedly been in London with his agent to finalise his move to West Ham, which will go through on January 1st.
Alves has come through with Silkeborg, but he has a Brazilian background and did spend time in the youth ranks of Coritiba.
The youngster has made almost 50 first-team appearances for Silkeborg, which is rather impressive considering his age, whilst he regularly turns out for Denmark’s Under-21’s.
Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Alves is a big and strong defender, who West Ham will now hope to develop behind the experience of Angelo Ogbonna and Fabian Balbuena.
Beating Leeds is something of a coup for the Hammers too, as Marcelo Bielsa’s men have been impressive in terms of recruiting young players – and West Ham will now hope that he is well worth the effort to land him.
