According to The Sun, Leeds United are interested in signing Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal this summer.

It’s claimed that Leeds fancy Manchester United’s Sergio Romero, but also have Martinez on their wish list following promotion.

Martinez, 27, has finally been given a run in the Arsenal starting lineup due to Bernd Leno’s injury, and he has been producing superb displays.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has praised Martinez, telling Football.London that his behaviour around the club is ‘phenomenal’ to match this performances.

However, it’s suggested that the Argentinian may now look to use this form to move on and become a first-choice stopper elsewhere.

Leeds have made a new goalkeeper a top priority, and would seemingly like to bring Martinez to Elland Road as a result.

Leeds have turned Illan Meslier’s loan move permanent, but the youngster may not yet be considered as ready for regular Premier League action.

Kiko Casilla’s time at Elland Road may be coming to an end, and Martinez would make sense if the Whites can tempt Arsenal to sell.

This is though yet another case of an Argentinian player being linked with Leeds, and it feels a little too easy to link Marcelo Bielsa with his compatriots.

Leeds may look to Argentinians, but there surely won’t be the mass influx of players from Bielsa’s homeland that current rumours are suggesting.
