Leeds United have let Tyler Denton leave on loan.

Leeds United defender Tyler Denton is the latest player to leave the club, signing on loan with Peterborough United.

The left-back has been on the verge of breaking into the Leeds side for the past three years but has been unable to make the next step.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported his exit and explained why a proposed move to Brescia fell through.

Brescia’s owner is former Leeds United supremo Massimo Cellino, but Denton was reportedly not keen on moving to Italy.

He chose to sign with Peterborough instead, having a second crack at League One football, where he will play under former Leeds boss Steve Evans, who was sacked by Cellino.

Denton had a loan spell with Port Vale last season before returning to Thorp Arch.

Staying in England should give Denton a better chance of being prepared to make the step up at Leeds if his time comes.

If it does not work out, then the chance to play abroad could still be on the table in the future, but the defender has made the right decision. Now it is up to him to show he has got what it takes to break through at Elland Road.

For Steve Evans, perhaps this is a small slice of revenge over Cellino, two years after his sacking.
