It has been reported that Leeds have had in-depth contacts with River Plate over the signing of Quarta in the summer transfer window.
However, according to the Italian news outlet, Italian giants Inter are also interested in the 24-year-old defender, who will be sold for €12-15 million (£10.95-£13.69m).
Tough for Leeds United?
Inter are a massive club, and under head coach Antonio Conte, they are back on form and doing great, and will also play in the Champions League next season.
The Italian giants would not have any problem in coughing up the transfer fee River reportedly want for Quarta.
Leeds are back in the Premier League for the first time since 2004, and Quarta will know all about his Argentine compatriot Marcelo Bielsa.
However, it is going to be tough for the West Yorkshire outfit to convince the Argentina international defender to snub Inter for Elland Road.
It would be quite a coup for Leeds if they are able to sign Quarta ahead of Inter, who could finish second in Serie A this season.
