According to The Daily Mail, Leeds United are interested in signing Boubakary Soumare from Lille in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Leeds had scouts present to watch Soumare in action for Lille against Lens in Ligue 1 last Friday.

However, according to the report, Everton and Newcastle United also want the 22-year-old, while Leicester City have actually opened talks with Lens over a proposed £21 million deal.

This suggests that Leeds are actually behind in the race for the 22-year-old midfielder, described by The Daily Star last month as ‘the next Paul Pogba’.

The France Under Under-21 is one of the better midfielders in Ligue 1, and has made 19 starts and 11 substitute appearances in the league and made four starts and four substitute appearances in the Europa League this season.

The youngster is a very capable central midfielder, and comparison with Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba shows his potential.

Although Leicester have opened talks with Lille, there is still time for Leeds to make an offer of their own.

Soumare could actually win the Ligue 1 title with Lille this season.

Lille are three points clear of second-placed Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the table with two more rounds of matches left.
