According to The Telegraph, Leeds United are pursuing a deal for AZ Alkmaar star Teun Koopmeiners in an eight-figure deal.
It’s claimed that Koopmeiners is being viewed as a player who can offer competition for Kalvin Phillips in holding midfield as well as Mateusz Klich in the central midfield role.
AZ allegedly expect the fee for Koopmeiners to be more than £10million, meaning Leeds will have to dig deep to lure him to Elland Road.
They have just splashed out on Real Sociedad defender Diego Llorente, which they also brought in Rodrigo Moreno and Robin Koch last month.
Koopmeiners, 22, would be an impressive addition given that he is seen as one of the top young players in the Eredivisie and a Netherlands international sooner rather than later.
Koopmeiners can also drop in and play as a centre back, which should appeal to Bielsa especially as the Dutchman is predominantly left-footed, offering balance at the back.

He is a fine passer of the ball, protects his back four well and isn’t afraid to shoot from range, whilst he has shown leadership as AZ’s captain.
Koopmeiners even branded himself a ‘natural leader’ when speaking to Voetbal Primeur earlier this year, and he would be another coup for Leeds if they can pull off the deal amid links to other Premier League clubs.
