Leeds United are among the clubs interested in signing Jacob Murphy from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
Southampton and Burnley are also claimed to be interested in the winger, according to the report, which has added that he is out of contract at Newcastle at the end of next season and is rated at £6 million.
Watford, FC Porto and Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly interested in the 26-year-old as well.
Murphy has been on the books of Newcastle since 2017 and has been playing well recently.
The 26-year-old has made 15 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Magpies this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process.
Leeds do have some quality wingers. Jack Harrison (on loan from Manchester City), Raphinha and Rodrigo are brilliant players, but there is always room for more good players.
For £6 million, Murphy would not be a bad signing for Leeds and would give head coach Marcelo Bielsa another option.
However, it remains to be seen if Newcastle are able to reach an agreement with Murphy over a new contract.
Murphy is rated very highly by his Newcastle teammate and striker Callum Wilson.
Wilson said on Soccer AM YouTube channel last weekend, as covered by HITC Sport: “I’d say he’s very, very technically good ain’t he? Yeah, left-foot, right-foot. He can take free-kicks with his left-foot and they end up in the top corner and stuff.
“He surprised me when I came here with his finishing and that. He was taking free-kicks outside the box with his left foot and they were flying into the top corner, and I was thinking, is this kid right-footed or left-footed?”
