Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Ross McCormack from Aston Villa.

According to a report on TeamTalk, Leeds United want Ross McCormack regardless of what happens with Chris Wood.

Leeds have reportedly made contact with Aston Villa striker McCormack’s representatives over a surprise return to Elland Road.

And Leeds’ move for McCormack is not thought to depend on whether Wood stays or goes.

It was originally expected that McCormack would sign for Leeds as a replacement for Wood, should the New Zealand international leave.

However, although Leeds are concerned that Wood could leave this summer, with Burnley readying a £20 million offer, they would like to add McCormack anyway.

Thomas Christiansen reportedly feels that the Scottish international could help improve his attacking options.

McCormack has suffered a miserable time at Villa so far, and looks set to exit this summer, after failing to make much of an impact at Villa Park.

The 29-year-old forward is interesting a number of clubs, but Leeds are the latest to announce their interest in the striker.

During his first spell with Leeds, McCormack was prolific – scoring 58 goals in 158 appearances for the Whites.
