Leeds United are reportedly set to ensure that Garry Monk is their manager next season.

According to Sky Sports, Leeds United will activate a 12-month option on the contract of Garry Monk, keeping him at the club for next season.
The Whites swooped to land Monk as their new manager almost a year ago, as they brought the former Swansea City boss to Elland Road as Steve Evans’ replacement.
After a slow start to life at Leeds, Monk eventually turned the Whites into promotion contenders, with the Whites firmly in the mix for a play-off place until the final stages of the season.
A late wobble saw Leeds drop out of the top six, costing them a play-off place, but they did enjoy a promising first season under Monk, who has been rebuilding his reputation at Elland Road.

Whilst Monk has impressed in charge of Leeds, speculation has surrounded his future in recent days, with The Sun claiming on Monday that Middlesbrough – who are searching for a new manager following their relegation to the Championship – were keen to hold talks with Monk.
Having only signed a one-year rolling deal, there has been concern that Monk could leave the club, but Sky Sports now claim that Leeds will activate a 12-month option in the 38-year-old’s contract to keep him at Elland Road.

It may not be the long-term deal that Leeds fans were looking for, but the 12-month extension gives the club more time to negotiate a lengthy deal with Monk without risking his departure this summer.
If true, Leeds fans can put their minds at ease for the foreseeable future, and Monk will be hoping to go one better than this season by taking Leeds into the play-offs next term.
