Leeds United are still interested in Middlesbrough’s Ashley Fletcher. However, Norwich City are favourite to sign him.

According to reports from The Sunday Sun (printed edition; 21/01/2018 – page 68), Middlesbrough striker Ashley Fletcher could leave the club in the next ten days.

The 22-year-old was signed by Garry Monk from West Ham in the summer for a reported fee of £6 million, but having failed to live up to his potential, Boro are looking to offload him.

Fletcher’s lack of game time has proved costly from Boro’s point of view, and they are hoping to ship him out on loan.

The report claims that a host of Championship clubs are interested in signing the 22-year-old, including Leeds United and Sunderland.

The Whites have already signed five players in the winter transfer window, but there is a feeling that Thomas Christiansen might be looking to bolster his strike department.

Leeds have already signed Adam Forshaw for £4.5 million from Boro, and it remains to be seen whether they make any formal move for him this month.

The Sunday Sun claims that Norwich City are leading the race at the moment. The Canaries lost Cameron Jerome to Derby County last week, and see Fletcher as an ideal replacement.
