According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are interested in signing Wigan Athletic youngster Sean McGurk.
The report has claimed that Leeds made an enquiry about the 17-year-old last week, having wanted to initially sign him in the summer of 2020.
It has been further claimed that the Premier League club are unlikely to make ‘a substantial bid’ for the 17-year-old attacking midfielder now, as he is out of contact at Wigan at the end of the season.
This means that Leeds would be able to secure the services of the teenager for a nominal fee in the summer of 2021.
Sensible idea
There is no point in Leeds making a big bid for McGurk now, as he will become a free agent in the summer of 2021.
The attacking midfielder is only 17 years of age, and he is likely to be part of the youth team at Leeds initially if he joins.
McGurk is a talented young player who has been doing well for the Wigan Under-18 side, but the teenager has yet to make his debut for the Latics’ senior team.
