Leeds United are set to snap up Finnish youth international Aapo Halme.
Leeds have shown a willingness to scout across Europe since Victor Orta took charge of transfers, and it seems that their scouting network has been working hard again.
Halme is a centre-back who is just 19 years of age, but he already boasts a large amount of first-team experience.
The Finland youth international has made 36 appearances in total for Helsinki, and even played in this season’s Europa League qualifiers.
Halme appears likely to be a back-up player for Leeds upon signing, rather than a defender ready to step into the first-team.
Thomas Christiansen already has Pontus Jansson, Liam Cooper and Matthew Pennington to pick from at centre-back, which means Halme has his work cut out to break into the Whites’ starting line-up.
If Halme does sign up this week, as expected, he could be included in Leeds’ FA Cup squad, which is due to play against Newport County on Sunday.
