Leeds United linked winger is set to sign with Athletic Bilbao
Leeds United are set to lose out on winger Ibai Gomez.
Spanish outlet El Gol Digital report Gomez is close to an agreement with former side Athletic Bilbao.
Goal had reported that Leeds failed with an approach for Gomez in the summer and wanted to try again in January.
The winger played under Marcelo Bielsa previously at Athletic Bilbao.
Gomez’s contract at Alaves was set to expire at the end of the season.
El Gol Digital report Alaves and Bilbao have agreed a deal in principle worth 3 million Euros (£2.69m).
The report claims relations are strong between the two clubs and a more expensive offers Sporting Clube de Portugal was rejected.
The transfer is expected to ‘accelerate’ in the coming days. Gomez is yet to commit to the move.
