Leeds United are reportedly keen on Chelsea’s Jamal Blackman.
According to Sky Sports, Leeds United are looking to follow up their deal for Lewis Baker by signing teammate Jamal Blackman from Chelsea this summer.
The Whites secured their first summer signing earlier this morning, as midfielder Baker penned a season-long loan deal, with the club, despite some reports that the Chelsea talent would be signing permanently.
A goalkeeper has been a top priority for Leeds this summer, and with moves for Manchester City’s Angus Gunn and Birmingham City’s David Stockdale going cold, a new target has emerged.
Sky Sports report that Leeds want to land Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman, in a move which would reunite him with ex-Blues teammate Baker at Elland Road.
Blackman, 24, has come up through the ranks with Chelsea, and impressed on loan with Leeds’ Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United last season, but he won’t be returning to Bramall Lane after the Blades signed Manchester United’s Dean Henderson on loan.
Previously with Middlesbrough, Ostersunds and Wycombe Wanderers, Blackman has gained valuable experience even if he hasn’t played a single game for Chelsea yet.
Standing at 6ft 6in tall, Blackman is an imposing figure between the sticks and could be the man to solve a major positional problem for Leeds, whether it’s on loan or permanently.
The rumours come less than 24 hours after Blackman was seemingly spotted at Leeds’ Thorp Arch training ground, as reported here by HITC, and may just point to the Whites striking a double deal with Chelsea this weekend.
