Marcelo Bielsa, the Leeds United head coach, is said to have targeted the versatile forward as he looks to strengthen two positions in one.
Leeds United ‘plan a £6 million swoop’ for Moussa Konate, according to the Daily Mirror’s printed edition (Wednesday 8th August, page 51).
Leeds were credited with interest in the Amiens striker on Tuesday, courtesy of L’Equipe.
And the Daily Mirror claims Konate is a target for Marcelo Bielsa as the Leeds head coach looks to strengthen up front and out wide.
Bielsa has already brought Jack Harrison, a winger, and Patrick Bamford, a striker, to Elland Road this summer, but Konate can play both roles.
The 25-year-old, who was part of Senegal’s squad at the 2018 World Cup, scored 13 goals in 33 Ligue 1 games last season.
Prior to that, Konate spent four years with Switzerland’s FC Sion, and also had spells in Italy (Genoa), Russia (FC Krasnodar) and Israel (Maccabi Tel Aviv) after leaving his homeland.
Leeds have until 5pm on Thursday to push through a permanent deal for Konate, although they can still make loan signings (including those with agreements to be made permanent in January) up to and including August 31st.
