Leeds United recently parted company with Paul Heckingbottom.

It has been reported that Heckingbottom was dismissed on Friday – June 1 – so that Leeds would have to pay £500,000 as compensation.

Had the West Yorkshire outfit sacked the former Barnsley boss before the beginning of June, then he would have been entitled to a £1m payoff, claims the report.
Decent sum
Heckingbottom was appointed as the Leeds head coach in February following the departure of Thomas Christiansen.

The Whites had to pay Barnsley £500,000 in compensation to secure the 40-year-old, according to The Daily Mail, and combined that with the payoff they have paid him now, as reported by The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 21:55, Saturday, June 2, 2018), it is quite a bit of money that Leeds had have to spend on Heckingbottom.
During his time as the head coach of the Elland Road outfit, Heckingbottom won just four matches – a hugely disappointing record given that when he took over, the Whites were still in the running for the Championship playoffs.
