Waghorn, who was Rangers’ top scorer last season, worked with new Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton at Ibrox, but former club Sunderland and Leeds United are ready to rival the Reds to the 27-year-old’s signature.
Rangers’ Martin Waghorn in action
Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Sunderland are among the clubs keen on Glasgow Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn, the Daily Mail reports (21/03, p75).
Waghorn excelled under new Forest boss Mark Warburton at Ibrox last season, but has found life difficult since Rangers’ return to Scottish football’s top tier.
Nevertheless, Waghorn has still managed an impressive 43 goals in 67 outings north of the border, although his future is somewhat uncertain.
The 27-year-old’s deal expires at the end of next season and with contract talks currently on hold, Rangers could look to move him on this summer in order to avoid losing him for nothing in 2018.
Warburton, who has already been linked with a move for Waghorn’s close friend and Ibrox teammate James Tavernier since taking the reins at Forest (Daily Mail), is said to be plotting a summer reunion with the former England Under-21 international.

However, the 54-year-old’s plans could be scuppered by both Leeds United and Sunderland, who are likely to be among the favourites for promotion from next season’s Championship, should the Whites fail to go up this campaign.
Born in South Shields, Waghorn began his career at Sunderland, before moving on to Leicester City and Wigan Athletic.
Leeds’ Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town are also said to be keen on the player.
