Leeds United are set to part company with director of football Victor Orta as Javi Gracia seemingly heads for the exit.

The Whites lost 4-1 to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon and are now in real danger of being relegated.

Gracia is seemingly going to lose his job very soon and Sam Allardyce is emerging as a potential successor.

The Athletic now report that Leeds are set to axe director of football Orta too.

It’s stated that talks were held on Monday and Orta is set to depart Elland Road imminently.

Andrea Radrizzani has seemingly lost patience with Orta and big changes are coming at Leeds.

Victor Orta’s time at Leeds United was mixed

The Spaniard had a tough first window at Leeds as deals for the likes of Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot and Pawel Cibicki really didn’t work.

Orta did turn things around by securing Marcelo Bielsa as well as Patrick Bamford in 2018.

Jack Harrison and Illan Meslier were strong signings in 2019 but the 2020 deal for Jean-Kevin Augustin was a famous disaster.

Spending in the Premier League has been up and down; Raphinha was a masterstroke, Robin Koch is a decent defender and Rodrigo has at least scored goals this season.

Junior Firpo hasn’t worked out though, £25million on Daniel James only to loan him out a year later was strange and the January deal for Georginio Rutter looks exorbitant.

Orta has also placed too much emphasis on signing young players for the future.

There seems to be a raft of Under-21 talent arriving every summer but Leeds don’t have the time to wait for all of them to emerge.

Leeds needed more proven quality in the Premier League and it just hasn’t arrived, with Orta now set to lose his job.

This is not how Orta would have seen his season ending, especially after holding talks with Chelsea as recently as October.

90Min reported that Orta was interviewed for a recruitment job at Stamford Bridge but ended up staying at Elland Road.

Fast forward just over six months and Orta will now find himself out of work as Leeds desperately seek change.
