Leeds United have made a formal approach to Bristol Rovers, as they look to appoint Darrell Clarke as their next manager.
According to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United have made a formal approach for Bristol Rovers manager Darrell Clarke.
Leeds had identified Milton Keynes Dons manager Karl Robinson as a potential successor to Steve Evans, but he rejected their advances after meeting with Massimo Cellino.
Clarke is next on the Whites’ wishlist of managers, as Massimo Cellino looks to appoint a manager with experience of the lower leagues.
Clarke has done an impressive job at Bristol Rovers, and he has guided them to back-to-back promotions in the last two seasons.
The 38-year-old first managed to get the Gas out of the Conference, before leading them to promotion from League Two last season.
Clarke’s other managerial experience came when he was in charge of Salisbury Town.
Bristol Rovers are yet to comment on Leeds’ interest in their manager.
Steve Evans is currently under contract at Elland Road, and plans to return to work at Thorp Arch on Wednesday, but he is expected to leave the Yorkshire club in the coming days.
